What type of lenses are in your sunglasses?

  • The majority of our sunglasses are made of CR-39 – the same lenses you'll find in most premium fashion eyewear. These lenses offer 100% UVA and UVB protection and crystal clear vision. CR-39 lenses are lightweight and shatter resistant.

Our "Reflective" lenses (i.e. Reflective Blue, Green, Purple, etc) are made of polycarbonate (PC). These are also 100% UVA and UVB protected, lightweight and shatter resistant.

We source our luxury "Mirror" lenses (i.e. Gold Mirror, Rose Gold Mirror, etc) from a factory that's been making the best luxury lenses in France for 50 years. Their unique metallic reflection production process results in the most pure color experience on the market (they're also pretty AF).

Are any of your sunglasses polarized?

  • Yes, we offer the option of polarized lenses with several of our most popular frame styles. To shop the Crap Eyewear Polarized™ styles, visit our Polarized Collection page.

Why choose Crap Eyewear Polarized™ lenses, though?

  • Crap Eyewear Polarized™ lenses have unique filters that block unwanted glare reflected off water, snow and other bright surfaces. This ultimately increases your visibility and soothes your eyeballs, making them particularly great for the beach bum, water rat or just people especially sensitive to glare.

What are Crap Eyewear Polarized™ lenses made out of?

  • Crap Eyewear Polarized™ lenses are made out of 1.4mm triacetate cellulose (TAC), which is a multi-layer composite. TAC polarized lenses are light weight and extremely impact resistant, making them the ideal polarized lenses for active lifestyles.

Can I put prescription lenses in Crap Eyewear sunglasses?

  • Yes, all of our sunglasses can be fit with prescription lenses. In our experience, we recommend supporting local optometry shops and avoiding chain retailers — local shops are more likely to cut and fit your new lenses by hand while big box chains use careless machines that can damage your favorite new frames. If your Crap Eyewear frames use Zero Base (Flat) lenses, check with your local shop first and make sure they offer Zero Base prescription lenses :)
