Product Design Associate
About the Product Design Associate Role
Crap Eyewear is looking for a part-time Product Design Associate to work directly with our founder on product design and development across seasonal collections and special projects. Our ideal candidate is culturally-fluent, trend aware and has strong aesthetic instincts. Eyewear-specific experience is not required, but fashion or accessories design experience and an enthusiasm for eyewear is.
This is a part-time, in-person role based in Venice, California.
Requirements:
- Available to work 2-3 days per week as follows:
- Tuesdays required, in-person at our Venice studio.
- Thursdays preferred, in-person at our Venice studio.
Responsibilities:

The Product Design Associate role spans creative and operational work: trend forecasting, colorway development, hands-on sample review, factory communication, tech pack production, and design studio operations.
- Trend Forecasting & Design
- Research and present trend forecasting relevant to fashion eyewear and accessories
- Develop seasonal colorway concepts and present to founder for review
- Contribute a fresh perspective to collection development and serve as a creative sounding board
- Product Development & Technical Execution
- Participate in in-person prototype and sample review sessions
- Consolidate colorway and revision decisions and submit to factory
- Track sample versions and manage revision cycles
- Swap lenses, cut styles, and request new samples as directed
- Photograph and document samples for factory feedback
- Build and maintain tech packs for eyewear colorways, packaging, and accessories
- Support packaging design for mainline and collaboration products
Contribute design ideas for peripheral accessories
- Design Studio Operations
- Maintain organized studio sample inventory including labeling, cataloging, and tracking all samples
- Organize and maintain lens kits, acetate swatch library, and materials collection
- Keep design studio orderly and operationally ready on a consistent basis
- Support general studio upkeep as needed
Qualifications:
- Background in fashion or accessories design
- Strong portfolio demonstrating relevant design work
- Genuine passion for eyewear and eyewear fashion
- Proficient in Adobe Illustrator
- Proficient in Google Sheets
- Related prior work experience/internship/education
- Ability to work in person at our Venice, CA studio on a consistent weekly schedule
- Dependable, organized, and detail-oriented
- Experience developing tech packs [Preferred]
- Production management or factory communication experience [Preferred]
